Last night at Midway was absolute chaos in the best possible way.
Watching Alestorm tear through their set was everything you'd expect from a pirate metal show and somehow even more ridiculous. The crowd was loud, the energy never dropped, and for a glorious moment it felt like we were all part of the same rowdy crew sailing straight into a storm of riffs, singalongs, and questionable life choices.
And can we talk about the giant inflatable duck? 🦆
I'm not entirely sure what purpose it served, and honestly I don't think I want to know. All I know is that every time I looked through my lens my brain immediately switched from "enjoying the concert" to "I desperately want to squish that duck and ride it into battle." It looked so perfectly squishable that it became a genuine distraction. If you saw me staring at the duck, just know I was fighting an internal battle.
Huge thanks to Midway Music Hall for an amazing evening. Great music, great people, and one enormous duck living rent-free in my head today.
